Base Salary
$131k - $183k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and document integrated onboard autonomy behavior across subsystem interfaces, including fault responses, mode transitions, command sequences, telemetry expectations, and operational constraints.
- Develop fault detection, isolation, and response logic across multiple satellite subsystems, including monitors, persistence logic, inhibits, recovery actions, sequencing, and escalation paths.
- Develop and integrate flight software, mission sequencing, mode management logic, and table-driven parameters for FDIR and autonomy applications.
- Collaborate with Flight Software, Avionics, GN&C, Electrical Power, C&DH, Propulsion, RF/Communications, Thermal, Systems Engineering, mission operations, and fleet management teams.
- Develop and execute verification and validation scripts, including fault injection, scenario-based testing, telemetry validation, and regression testing.
- Support FMECA, CONOPS, and system hazards analyses, and ensure autonomy supports scalable constellation operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience developing mission automation, FDIR, mission sequencing, onboard autonomy, or related real-time software for satellite or space vehicle systems.
- Ability to translate subsystem fault-detection and response requirements into flight software implementation while working with subsystem subject-matter experts.
- Experience developing, integrating, and testing real-time flight software and autonomy across multiple subsystems.
- Experience with continuous integration systems, automated software testing, software configuration control tools such as Git, test-script development, and telemetry analysis.
- Experience using C/C++, Python, and structured configuration or data formats such as XML, YAML, or JSON.
- Preferred qualifications include satellite or ground operations, HWIL/SWIL lab environments, avionics and communications protocols, formal flight-software configuration processes, requirements tools such as DOORS or Jama, Confluence, JIRA, state-machine or rule-based autonomy systems, and Trick Sim or comparable simulation frameworks.
