Responsibilities
- Set technical direction, target architecture, and engineering standards for multiple delivery teams.
- Architect and deliver Java and Spring-based distributed platforms and microservices for high-volume, latency-sensitive workloads.
- Decompose legacy and monolithic systems into domain services with clear boundaries, API contracts, data ownership, and migration sequencing.
- Design event-driven workflows and distributed transaction and recovery patterns, including Saga, transactional Outbox, retries, replay, compensation, and dead-letter handling.
- Build reusable platform capabilities for exception handling, routing, transformation, security, observability, configuration, and horizontal scaling.
- Ensure resilient and idempotent message processing across redelivery, partial failures, dependency degradation, and downstream outages.
- Lead performance engineering, capacity planning, and tuning across application, messaging, database, and infrastructure layers.
- Establish automated contract, integration, replay, concurrency, and failure-path testing practices.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews, document technical decisions, and mentor technical leads and engineers.
- Introduce agentic AI and retrieval-augmented generation capabilities with trusted grounding, guardrails, and human approval.
- Partner with operations, cybersecurity, risk, data, and business stakeholders in regulated environments.
Requirements
- Minimum 7.5 years of professional experience is required.
- Minimum 8 years of Jakarta EE experience is stated in the additional requirements.
- Proficiency in Jakarta EE is required.
- Advanced Java experience is required, preferably with Java 17 or Java 21.
- Deep experience with Spring Boot and practical knowledge of Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, and Spring Data are required.
- Strong concurrent and asynchronous programming experience is required; virtual threads, Project Reactor, or WebFlux are valuable.
- Experience designing versioned REST APIs and OpenAPI contracts is required.
- Experience with microservices architecture and domain-driven service decomposition is required.
- Hands-on experience developing agentic AI applications and using LangChain, LangGraph, or comparable orchestration frameworks is required.
- Experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or another vector-capable retrieval platform is required.
- Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging using Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ, or comparable platforms is preferred.
- Experience with idempotency, back-pressure, bounded concurrency, ordering, failure isolation, recovery design, and Resilience4j or comparable libraries is preferred.
- Strong relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL or Oracle, is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker in enterprise production environments is preferred.
- Public-cloud engineering experience, preferably Google Cloud Platform, is preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure automation using Jenkins, Ansible, or equivalent tooling is preferred.
- Experience with distributed tracing, metrics, structured logging, alerting, Grafana dashboards, JUnit 5, Mockito, Testcontainers, contract testing, replay-based regression testing, and distributed-failure testing is beneficial.
- A minimum of 15 years of full-time education is required.
