Responsibilities
- Implement structured CMS page models, content types, reusable templates, and page components using Drupal and/or Wagtail.
- Configure CMS modules or packages, publishing workflows, taxonomies, information architecture, routing, redirects, menus, breadcrumbs, and cross-site transition pathways.
- Execute content migration workflows, including extraction, cleaning, transformation, and ingestion of text, relational data, PDFs, scientific images, datasets, and other digital assets.
- Integrate third-party institutional systems, APIs, and enterprise databases, including HigherEd ERP systems and Ellucian Banner.
- Lead technical testing of template rendering, responsive UI, editorial workflows, access permissions, search indexing, integrations, and launch-critical functionality.
- Track implementation deliverables, backlog stories, bugs, estimates, and technical debt using Jira.
- Deliver a tested, secure, production-ready website populated with validated migrated content by the target deadlines.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of hands-on CMS development and technical implementation experience, including multiple production website builds, custom configurations, and large-scale data migrations.
- Direct proficiency with Drupal, PHP, Composer, and Twig and/or Wagtail, Python, and Django.
- Strong understanding of structured content, reusable templates, atomic page components, custom fields, and multi-tier editorial workflows.
- Experience with content migration pipelines, database transformation scripts, and digital asset migrations for large static repositories.
- Working knowledge of web QA, functional and cross-browser testing, accessibility compliance, redirect rule engines, and production deployment procedures.
- Ability to collaborate with software engineers, UI/UX designers, content strategists, project managers, and executive client stakeholders.
- Experience managing implementation sprints, tickets, pull requests, and bug backlogs with Jira or comparable tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation, architectural decision records, and handoff guides.
- Preferred: residence in New Mexico or West Texas with willingness to travel onsite to Socorro, New Mexico, up to twice during the project lifecycle.
- Preferred: experience engineering web solutions for higher education, scientific research organizations, geological surveys, or public-sector agencies.
