Responsibilities
- Design and build clean, efficient, testable backend systems.
- Architect scalable APIs and infrastructure for high-trust, regulated environments.
- Solve complex product challenges by considering user needs and system behavior.
- Apply strong testing, quality, and long-term maintainability practices.
- Shape engineering practices and technical culture through collaboration and hands-on leadership.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience building production APIs, distributed services, or backend systems.
- Strong systems thinking and the ability to reason about large-scale architectural problems.
- Experience in high-trust or regulated domains such as fintech, payments, or identity.
- Production experience with relational databases such as Postgres.
- Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Experience deploying and managing applications in containerized or cloud environments such as Kubernetes or AWS.
- Track record of writing automated tests and maintaining testable codebases.
- Familiarity with Node.js, TypeScript, Express, and Event Sourcing is preferred but not required.
- Background at a high-caliber fintech, payments, or high-growth technology company is preferred.
- Clear communication, collaboration, comfort with ambiguity, curiosity, ambition, and kindness.
