Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement components of distributed systems that support horizontal and vertical scalability.
- Optimize systems for large-scale data retrieval, storage, processing, and performance.
- Build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Implement testing, fault injection, load testing, dashboards, telemetry, alarms, and alerting to maintain correctness and reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in incident response and root-cause investigations, and execute recovery runbooks.
- Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for troubleshooting and cloud infrastructure management.
- Apply security, encryption, access controls, compliance, and remediation practices in multi-tenant environments.
- Plan and prioritize work, collaborate across teams, troubleshoot complex problems, and contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms.
- Proficiency in Java or Python.
- Experience building highly available services using service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols.
- Experience with production operations, production-quality code, and troubleshooting operational issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical ideas through proposals, design specifications, architecture diagrams, and presentations.
- Preferred: experience in a fast-paced environment, building control-plane or data-plane solutions for cloud-native companies, and diagnosing performance issues in complex environments.
