Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Define the roadmap for next-generation Google Cloud Compute VM offerings with Product Management and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Design, architect, and develop scalable solutions that optimize VM performance, hardware efficiency, and infrastructure utilization.
- Lead multi-functional initiatives across hardware, kernel, virtualization, and product teams from conception through production.
- Advise strategic customers by analyzing, benchmarking, and optimizing massive-scale workloads and performance bottlenecks.
- Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and establish engineering best practices for performance analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience programming in C++.
- 5 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or working with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- Experience with CPU and memory architectures such as x86 and ARM and with modern server hardware performance characteristics.
- Experience serving as an architect or technical lead for multi-year infrastructure initiatives from conception to global deployment.
- Experience with OS kernels, hypervisors or virtualization stacks such as KVM or Xen, networking drivers, or storage stacks.
- Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms and 3 years in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Experience collaborating with principal engineers at strategic enterprise clients to resolve complex, large-scale performance bottlenecks.
- Understanding of hardware/software boundaries, performance profiling, microarchitectural optimization, and hardware acceleration techniques.
- Ability to drive technical alignment across Product Management, Hardware Engineering, and foundational Software teams.
Benefits
- Base salary of $207000-$300000 USD annually, plus a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
