Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, performance, resiliency, and ongoing health of complex applications and services.
- Lead end-to-end technical design and translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Build applications using Java and Spring Boot within microservices and cloud-native architectures.
- Lead application integrations using MQ, Kafka, SFTP, JSON, and XML.
- Develop and optimize data solutions using Oracle SQL.
- Use AI-assisted tools for code analysis, technical debt assessment, design exploration, prototyping, test strategy improvement, incident triage, and root-cause analysis.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement long-term fixes.
- Set and enforce standards for code quality, testing, security, performance, and software development practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, including guidance on responsible AI use.
- Collaborate with business partners, architects, and product teams to align solutions with business priorities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and delivery practices.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Related post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering production systems in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Strong Java and Spring Boot development experience.
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, application integrations, Kafka, MQ, SFTP, JSON, XML, and Oracle SQL.
- AWS experience within the past 12 months, including deploying, hosting, and supporting applications in AWS-based environments.
- Recent AI or GenAI experience within the past 3 months using AI to solve technical or business problems.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding or developer productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
- Experience integrating AI, ML, or GenAI tools or consuming AI services and APIs such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude.
- Strong judgment in reviewing and validating AI-generated code, designs, and technical recommendations for correctness, security, maintainability, and enterprise alignment.
- Understanding of responsible, ethical, secure, and compliant AI use, including data privacy, intellectual property, regulatory considerations, and secure software development.
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Banking or financial services experience is preferred.
