Base Salary
$160k - $285k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve secure, scalable microservices and frontend experiences for mission-critical product features.
- Own major platform initiatives end to end, translating ambiguous technical and product concepts into functional software.
- Lead architecture for critical distributed subsystems and drive technical execution across the team.
- Apply domain-driven design, API contract management, testing, observability, and architectural modernization practices.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools and autonomous coding agents to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
- Lead and unblock one to three developers through technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews.
- Maintain operational health, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native observability.
- Drive cloud infrastructure cost optimization across large-scale AWS and GCP deployments.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define sprint tasks and communicate technical tradeoffs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend microservice architectures and distributed systems.
- 5+ years of experience with Java, Kotlin, or Go.
- 5+ years of cloud platform experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including S3, Lambda, EC2, CloudFront, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, and MySQL.
- 5+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- 2+ years of full-stack experience building modern frontend UIs with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
- 1+ year of experience with modern architectural standards such as Model Context Protocol/MCP.
- 1+ year of expert-level AI-augmented development using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- Deep backend proficiency in Java or Kotlin and strong knowledge of design patterns, distributed systems, and high-availability architecture.
- Expertise in API development and contract management, modern protocols such as MCP, and spec-driven development.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into software products and using AI-augmented workflows.
- Experience with Developer Platforms, DevTools, or core engineering platforms is preferred.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
