Base Salary
$169k - $253k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve secure, scalable microservices, distributed systems, and frontend experiences.
- Own major platform initiatives end-to-end and translate ambiguous technical and product concepts into production software.
- Lead the architecture of critical distributed subsystems and drive technical execution within the team.
- Improve domain-driven design, API contract management, testing, observability, reliability, and architectural modernization.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools and autonomous coding agents to accelerate delivery and validate generated code.
- Lead and unblock 1–3 developers through technical guidance, mentorship, and constructive code reviews.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to break down features and communicate technical tradeoffs.
- Drive cloud infrastructure cost optimization across large-scale deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend microservice architectures and distributed systems.
- 5+ years of experience with Java or Scala.
- 2+ years of full-stack experience building modern frontend user interfaces with JavaScript frameworks.
- 5+ years delivering and operating cloud-based production services, preferably with AWS or GCP.
- 5+ years of experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- 1+ year of experience with Model Context Protocol for spec-driven development.
- 1+ year of expert-level AI-augmented development using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
- Deep proficiency in Java or Scala, design patterns, distributed systems, and high-availability architecture.
- Expert API development and contract management skills, including familiarity with MCP.
- Strong full-stack competency with React and TypeScript.
- Experience with operational ownership, test automation, cloud-native observability, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI capabilities into software products and using AI-augmented workflows.
- Previous experience as a technical founder or early-stage engineer at a startup with fewer than 50 employees is highly preferred.
- Experience with Developer Platforms, DevTools, or core engineering platforms is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Benefits
- Annualized base salary is listed at $168,500–$252,700 for the primary Atlanta location; additional U.S. locations have a $160,100–$285,100 base range.
- May be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or role-specific bonus and annual refresh stock grants.
