Responsibilities
- Architect, build, test, and refine Gusto’s iOS app and supporting embedded mobile web views.
- Identify and advocate for engineering best practices, architecture, and process improvements.
- Enhance and maintain iOS mobile infrastructure, including build pipelines, testing automation, and release processes.
- Build and scale foundational services such as push notifications, accessibility, and localization features.
- Develop and improve product features spanning business functions, work tools, value-added services, and financial products.
- Collaborate with product management, design, identity, security, design systems, infrastructure, and partner teams to prototype, iterate, and launch solutions.
- Use AI agents to increase development productivity and output quality.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of overall mobile software engineering experience, including a minimum of 10 years working with Swift and iOS software engineering.
- Proficiency with iOS testing frameworks and software engineering best practices.
- Experience developing platform components and common features that improve scalability, consistency, performance, and maintainability.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, self-direction, and continuous-learning skills.
- Passion for mentoring others and the ability to work on greenfield projects.
- Preferred experience includes delivering code across diverse technology stacks, using analytics and monitoring tools, building mobile infrastructure and testing-at-scale capabilities, applying GraphQL, and working on apps spanning multiple teams and feature areas.
