Responsibilities
- Drive the technical direction and design of backend services and APIs for the Adoption and Onboarding team.
- Own service design, versioning, performance, developer experience, and API lifecycle for internal and external consumers.
- Design and build React-based customer-facing UI architecture, including components, state management, and client-side performance.
- Design, build, and operate scalable REST and GraphQL APIs, including schema design, authentication, performance optimization, and lifecycle management.
- Architect low-latency backend services using event-driven architectures, idempotent API design, caching, and distributed-systems principles.
- Integrate data pipelines, model serving, and AI-powered features in partnership with Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams.
- Improve developer productivity, code quality, platform health, and operational excellence, including responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools.
- Define KPIs and SLOs, support observability and incident response, and resolve customer-impacting issues.
- Communicate technical solutions through design documents, architecture reviews, and technical discussions.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across engineering teams on large-scale platform initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience architecting end-to-end solutions and building and scaling data-intensive web applications and resilient backend services.
- Deep hands-on experience with Node.js, REST and GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, idempotent API design, schema versioning, caching strategies such as Redis, and modern API integration patterns.
- Working knowledge of React and TypeScript is preferred.
- Experience designing, building, and operating REST and GraphQL APIs at scale, including authentication, performance optimization, API versioning, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with relational and document databases, scalable data models, and query-performance optimization.
- Experience partnering with Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams to ship production data pipelines, model-serving, and ML-driven customer-facing features.
- Experience adopting AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot in production engineering environments.
- Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming, Test-Driven Development, Service-Oriented Architecture, distributed systems, and software design principles.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, CI/CD, testing strategy, deployment, runtime platforms, monitoring, observability, and incident response.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Experience anticipating technical challenges, designing maintainable solutions, documenting architecture, and communicating complex technical concepts.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
