Responsibilities
- Develop secure, tested, and performant backend features using Ruby and GraphQL.
- Design and maintain backend services, APIs, data models, and business logic for source code workflows.
- Improve system reliability through performance tuning, caching, rate limiting, observability, and resiliency work.
- Monitor production health, participate in Tier 2 on-call, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to root cause analysis.
- Collaborate asynchronously and synchronously with cross-functional and Source Code teams.
- Use and critically review AI coding agents for appropriate work.
- Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and maintainable coding standards.
Requirements
- Professional experience building backend web applications, services, or APIs with Ruby and GraphQL.
- Understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, caching, background processing, and backend performance practices.
- Experience contributing to user-facing workflows and maintaining their underlying systems.
- Experience writing backend unit and integration tests, with familiarity with the testing pyramid, Git, and collaborative code review.
- Experience using AI coding agents and reviewing their output, or interest in developing those skills in a complex monorepo.
- Clear written and spoken English communication skills for a remote, asynchronous environment.
- Ability to manage priorities, work through ambiguity, take ownership, and seek guidance when needed.
