Responsibilities
- Conduct R&D focused on quantum compilation and advances in quantum technology.
- Deploy software optimizations to the Superstaq cloud platform using documentation, linting, testing, and type-checking practices.
- Interface with Superstaq customers to understand and support their needs.
- Contribute to government and commercial proposals and global program execution.
- Collaborate with experimental physicists and software engineers to connect theoretical concepts with practical implementations.
- Publish research findings in scientific journals and present at conferences.
- Apply quantum algorithms to real-world problems and compare their performance with classical methods.
- Develop or expand quantum algorithms for real-world applications.
- Provide guidance and support to other team members.
Requirements
- Currently attending a US degree program in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or a directly related field, preferably entering the penultimate academic year after the internship.
- High programming proficiency, preferably with fluency in Python, or proficiency in C, C++, or Julia with the ability to rapidly learn Python.
- Preferred experience with quantum software frameworks such as Cirq or Qiskit, including modifying the libraries.
- Preferred experience with Stim and professional software engineering practices including coverage, integration testing, type checking, unit testing, and version control.
- Preferred backend experience with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and SQLAlchemy.
- Preferred cloud development experience with GCP and AWS.
- Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD, automated actions, issue tracking, and version control.
- Familiarity with security practices including access control, encryption at rest, key rotation, and logging.
- Exposure to or interest in frontend or GUI development using HTML, CSS, React, or PyQt.
