Base Salary
$120k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead investigation and analysis of complex distributed systems and trace the causes of faults.
- Identify bottlenecks and load concentration, mitigate issues, and define automated algorithms for more effective load distribution.
- Develop robust algorithms and heuristics for degraded hardware and recurring system events across teams and organizations.
- Identify and communicate system behavior patterns, systemic improvement opportunities, and efficient methods for recognizing known issues.
- Communicate with internal and external customers about ways to use Azure Storage technologies effectively.
- Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual, mentor engineers, and participate in on-call monitoring for degradation, downtime, and service interruptions.
- Improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance while promoting consistent monitoring and operations at scale.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Additional qualification path: master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Experience or interest in distributed storage, high availability, consistent performance, durability, concurrency, observability, and complex systems debugging.
