Responsibilities
- Spend approximately 50% of the time onsite with customers across the US.
- Build an understanding of customer operations by shadowing operators, analysts, and frontline teams.
- Rapidly prototype field tools and integrations to validate ideas, solve urgent problems, and prove feasibility.
- Troubleshoot complex operational and systems issues across varied and degraded environments.
- Translate field insights into technical requirements and integration specifications for engineering.
- Lead technical integration work involving APIs, data pipelines, hardware/software interfaces, and security- and compliance-sensitive deployments.
- Partner with engineering to align features, interfaces, and infrastructure with real-world operational needs.
- Represent customer technical realities internally and advocate for product and engineering improvements based on field observations and feedback.
- Decompose ambiguous operational problems into scoped technical workstreams and ensure reliable deployment, connectivity, data flow, and operations.
- Help establish the foundation, processes, and culture for Realm’s forward deployed engineering function.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software engineering or forward deployed/mission operations experience with a record of shipping impactful work.
- Strong coding, debugging, computer science fundamentals, and technical fluency sufficient to build prototypes and collaborate closely with engineers.
- Experience working directly with enterprise, industrial, government, defense, or security-critical products.
- Mastery of core development, infrastructure, and DevOps tools including Git and Linux.
- Ability to lead cross-functional problem solving, influence technical teams, and drive projects from inception through delivery.
- Strong prioritization, structured thinking, communication, data analysis, and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.
- Hands-on prototyping and AI-assisted coding experience, with the ability to rapidly test and validate solutions.
- US-based; US citizenship is preferred, or permanent residency.
- Preferred experience includes onsite customer work, industrial or government software deployments, mobile or web applications, cloud infrastructure, IoT or industrial systems, real-time data pipelines, sensitive customer environments, mining, or industrial safety regulations.
