Base Salary

$174k - $252k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews and select among available technologies.
  • Review code and provide feedback on style, accuracy, testability, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation and educational content as products and user feedback evolve.
  • Triage, debug, track, and resolve product or system issues affecting hardware, networks, services, and quality.
  • Lead long-term strategy, architecture, and capacity management for BigQuery release channels.
  • Partner with Workload Management on a shared multi-year roadmap and solve distributed-systems, capacity-fragmentation, and constrained-resource-allocation challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, or storage.
  • At least 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products and at least 1 year of software design and architecture experience.
  • Experience with backend systems, cloud technologies, and large-scale distributed systems.
  • Preferred experience with capacity management and capacity planning, high-performance backend systems, resource fragmentation, constrained resource allocation, or dynamic provisioning.
  • Preferred experience programming in C++.
  • Preferred experience with Big Data and high-scale data analytics infrastructure.
  • Preferred technical leadership experience defining long-term goals, driving multi-year architectural roadmaps, leading, and mentoring software engineers.
  • A master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
