Base Salary

$125k - $135k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Engineer tools and workflows for clinical genomic data analysis and bioinformatics process automation.
  • Develop web tools for visualizing and interacting with genomic data, including IGV-based or browser-native viewers.
  • Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, scalability, and reliability for laboratory-facing production systems.
  • Troubleshoot interconnected production systems, resolve operational issues, and support incident response.
  • Apply bioinformatics algorithms, statistical techniques, and data visualization to genomic and operational data.
  • Collaborate with bioinformatics R&D, clinical laboratory analysts, molecular biologists, and other stakeholders on genomics workflows and assay development.
  • Evaluate and improve genomic data quality, consistency, traceability, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested, well-documented software and contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 3 or more years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering; Ph.D.; or bachelor's degree with 6 or more years of experience in those fields.
  • Experience with short-read and long-read sequencing platforms such as Illumina or PacBio is preferred.
  • Experience with bioinformatics algorithms, scalable infrastructure, workflow orchestration, and clinical genomics regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Experience with full-stack web development, modern programming languages, UNIX/Linux shell scripting, SQL and NoSQL datastores, and software development practices is preferred.
  • Experience with production deployment, AI-assisted development tools, interactive data visualization, and observability or monitoring platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to solve open-ended problems, troubleshoot complex systems, communicate with stakeholders, and balance feature development with production support.
