Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end applications and services for legal document ingestion, extraction, workflow processing, and delivery into practice management systems.
- Design, build, and maintain the frontend user experience.
- Build multimodal LLM pipelines over legal documents using Claude on AWS Bedrock.
- Improve LLM accuracy through schema validation and self-correcting retry loops.
- Instrument pipelines and track error rates, retries, token spend, and latency to guide optimization.
- Develop prompt caching, embedding-based entity matching, exemplar retrieval, and evaluation harnesses for prompt and model changes.
- Partner with legal experts to translate ambiguous requirements into schemas, validators, and acceptance criteria.
- Operate AWS-based systems, including Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, and Bedrock, in a Serverless Framework Python monorepo.
- Shape architecture, drive technical excellence, and solve complex product and engineering problems as a founding engineer.
Requirements
- 8+ years of full-stack software development experience.
- Experience building service-oriented architectures using technologies such as Docker, Lambda, and ECS.
- Strong experience with Python and TypeScript is advantageous, while experience in other languages is considered.
- Demonstrated experience working with LLMs or generative AI systems and understanding their constraints and practical applications.
- Experience with DynamoDB and relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience implementing and refining platform monitoring and observability.
- Ability to work through ambiguity, make high-stakes decisions, solve complex problems, and collaborate with technical, product, and legal stakeholders.
