Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize backend infrastructure for a large-scale real-time data platform.
- Develop highly scalable services processing hundreds of thousands of requests per second and tens of terabytes of new data daily.
- Own features end-to-end from architecture and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Solve complex distributed-systems challenges with experienced software engineers.
- Build platforms supporting real-time decision-making, experimentation, and marketplace performance.
- Design and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to identify system-health issues before they affect users.
- Influence products delivering content recommendations across the open web.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience developing production systems with Java or another object-oriented programming language, preferably Java 8+.
- Experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems and high-performance backend services.
- Strong production experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of web architectures, APIs, distributed systems, and scalable system design.
- Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or other large-scale data technologies.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or an equivalent technical degree.
- Preferred experience with Python, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/logging, infrastructure cost optimization, machine learning, algorithms, data mining, real-time bidding systems, Spark, or HDFS.
