Base Salary
$131k - $169k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy production-ready AI agents and agentic systems across internal platforms and workflows.
- Own AI initiative scoping and discovery with business stakeholders and convert needs into technical solutions.
- Build and enhance Cboe’s agentic control plane.
- Apply context engineering, including prompt design, memory architecture, and retrieval strategies.
- Establish best practices for agent development, evaluation, observability, scalability, reliability, and risk management.
- Design benchmarking and evaluation frameworks to measure and improve AI system performance.
- Translate AI strategy into prioritized technical work and lead technical design reviews.
- Mentor engineers and establish standards for AI system development.
- Create technical documentation, including scoping artifacts, design specifications, and testing criteria.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- 7–10+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience with increasing seniority.
- At least 3 years of professional applied AI experience, including building agents, MCP servers, or context/harness engineering.
- Experience building and deploying AI solutions in production and understanding agent frameworks.
- Hands-on experience building tools and integrations for LLM-based systems.
- Deep proficiency in context engineering, prompt design, retrieval strategies, and memory or context management.
- Experience working directly with non-technical stakeholders to scope AI opportunities and define technical requirements.
- Strong programming skills; Python is strongly preferred.
- Experience with LLM evaluation, observability, and benchmarking.
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and deliver without close oversight.
- Experience setting technical standards, leading architecture or design reviews, and mentoring engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex AI concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Preferred qualifications include 10–15+ years of overall experience, 5+ years in applied AI, consulting/platform/internal-services experience, managing multiple workstreams, ownership of AI discovery practices, AWS or Snowflake production experience, NLP experience, and contributions to AI strategy or architecture.
