Responsibilities
- Develop and scale a high-throughput, high-availability, public-facing multi-tenant application.
- Design and implement solutions for complex end-user-facing and backend challenges.
- Develop and maintain secure, performant APIs for internal, B2B, and public consumers.
- Propose and review system architecture designs and technical standards.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications with product management and other stakeholders.
- Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve scalable production systems and operational processes.
- Lead code reviews, implement engineering best practices, and mentor more junior colleagues.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in software development roles.
- Strong proficiency in recent Java versions, JDK 21 or newer, and/or Kotlin.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and the wider JavaScript ecosystem, with ideally some React experience.
- Experience developing high-quality, testable code with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience designing and integrating APIs using REST, gRPC, GraphQL, and OpenAPI.
- Understanding of web technologies including HTTP and DNS, and comfort using Browser Developer Tools.
- Knowledge of API security standards including OAuth2, SAML, and JWT.
- Grounding in Git, TDD, object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Experience deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting microservices in a production environment at scale.
- Preferred experience with HAProxy, Envoy, nginx, Kong, Terraform, AWS, Svelte, JMeter, Gatling, wrk2, JVM profiling, Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB, or the ELK stack.
