Base Salary
$255k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for the Database Platform.
- Own database architecture decisions covering schema design, partitioning, migrations, replication, and scalability.
- Set PostgreSQL standards for query optimization, indexing, partitioning, replication, vacuuming, and connection pooling.
- Architect and guide NodeZero’s graph-based asset model across hosts, services, credentials, and vulnerabilities.
- Own schema review processes and ensure migrations are safe, reversible, and zero-downtime.
- Build tooling and practices for schema governance and query performance review.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, and architectural guidance.
- Partner with Data Ingestion, Asset Inventory, API Platform, and Security Research on cross-team data contracts and guardrails.
Requirements
- Deep, production-proven PostgreSQL expertise, including query planner internals, advanced indexing, partitioning, logical replication, vacuuming, and connection pool tuning.
- Experience architecting multi-tenant databases at scale, including row-level security and tenant-isolation approaches.
- Experience implementing zero-downtime migrations and backward-compatible schema evolution in production.
- Experience with migration tooling such as Flyway or golang-migrate, or an equivalent tool.
- Familiarity with graph data models, graph databases, or graph-like relational query patterns.
- Proficiency in Go or Python and ability to write production application code.
- A demonstrated track record of defining and delivering database architecture at scale across multiple companies or teams.
- Ability to evaluate data architecture tradeoffs and design for long-term growth and increased data volume.
- Ability to communicate complex database decisions through design documents, ADRs, and cross-team reviews.
- Experience driving database standards and engineering culture across teams without direct reporting authority.
- Experience mentoring engineers through code review, pair programming, and architectural guidance.
- Preferred experience with cybersecurity data, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, analytical or BI workloads, SOC 2 Type II, FedRAMP, GDPR/CCPA, or open-source database tooling.
