Base Salary

$205k - $275k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of the sheet data platform across transactional databases and the lakehouse, including lifecycle, retention, schema evolution, asynchronous access, and consistency.
  • Design services and APIs supporting real-time collaboration for millions of users and machine-scale AI-agent access.
  • Identify major technical opportunities, validate them with prototypes, and convert them into funded initiatives.
  • Plan and execute petabyte-scale production data migrations with phased cutovers, backfills, reconciliation, verification, and rollback paths.
  • Scope and deliver multi-quarter initiatives with milestones, risk tracking, and cross-team coordination.
  • Influence roadmaps and platform or vendor decisions across Product, Data Platform, AI Platform, and Infrastructure.
  • Write architecture decisions, RFCs, and standards and lead design reviews.
  • Define patterns and guardrails for AI integration into multi-system architectures and engineering workflows.
  • Develop high-performing production software in Java or Kotlin on AWS and Kubernetes, conduct deep code reviews, and mentor senior and staff engineers.
  • Participate in on-call and lead complex incidents, performance investigations, and root-cause remediation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building highly scalable, highly available, low-latency systems, including several years operating at Principal or Staff level.
  • Production-quality Java or Kotlin development experience and comfort working across the stack.
  • Experience designing and operating asynchronous, event-driven systems on AWS or comparable cloud infrastructure, including ordering, idempotency, back-pressure, partial failure, and consistency concerns.
  • Experience owning very large relational or distributed datastores, tuning and scaling them, and migrating data without customer impact.
  • Experience taking ambiguous, high-stakes technical projects from prototype to production across multiple teams.
  • Experience authoring design documents, RFCs, or standards adopted by an engineering organization.
  • Experience building LLM-enriched workflows that delivered measurable value to SaaS customers.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis.
  • Preferred experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Spark, Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Kafka, Kinesis, MCP servers, agent-facing APIs, or real-time collaborative applications.
