Senior Backend Engineer
DraftKingsResponsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend systems and APIs for real-time, high-impact applications.
- Deliver production-ready code and new features in a 24/7 sports betting environment.
- Own services across the full software development lifecycle, including design, maintenance, performance tuning, and reliability improvements.
- Triage, investigate, and resolve production issues while improving operational excellence.
- Optimize systems for high volume, real-time demands, speed, and efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical execution with product goals.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and collaborative debugging, and drive quality standards across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant combination of education, experience, and training.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in object-oriented backend development using languages such as C#.
- Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and backend system architecture.
- Experience designing and building scalable distributed systems in cloud environments such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
- Advanced proficiency writing and maintaining automated unit, integration, and performance test suites for large-scale backend services.
- Ability to mentor and develop other engineers through reviews and collaborative debugging.
