Responsibilities
- Build and deliver full-stack software capabilities for investment research initiatives through hands-on design, development, testing, and support.
- Design and implement cloud-ready, event-driven services, APIs, and integration patterns across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
- Translate business needs into technical approaches with product owners, researchers, architects, and engineering peers.
- Improve code quality, automated testing, observability, secure-by-design delivery, CI/CD workflows, and DevOps practices.
- Diagnose and resolve complex production and integration issues while improving long-term resiliency.
- Mentor engineers through coaching, feedback, and inclusive collaboration.
- Communicate priorities, tradeoffs, and progress to technical and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to platform modernization and approved generative AI capabilities in accordance with governance, security, and compliance expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience developing production-grade applications with Java, Spring Boot, and Python.
- Experience building cloud-ready, event-driven microservices and APIs using messaging patterns such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
- Experience designing and building hybrid on-premises and cloud integrations.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL technologies, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Bigtable.
- Ability to work with financial datasets and support data engineering workflows and analytics use cases.
- Experience building data visualizations or dashboards with Python-based tooling such as Plotly Dash.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD and container-based delivery using tools such as GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Bamboo, or Jenkins.
- Working knowledge of secure coding and code quality tools such as SonarQube, CodeQL, and Veracode.
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and modern design principles for maintainable solutions.
- Preferred experience modernizing data platforms or research technology in a regulated industry.
- Preferred familiarity with rules engines such as Drools and data lake patterns for large-scale time series datasets.
- Preferred experience collaborating with quantitative partners to operationalize models using Python or R.
- Ability to balance near-term delivery with long-term architecture evolution and platform scalability.
- Strong prioritization and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts.
