Base Salary
$158k - $248k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end platform patterns, build reference implementations, document architectural rationale, and open pull requests to enable adoption.
- Participate in weekly architecture reviews using a consistent rubric and expand standards libraries and Architecture Decision Records.
- Own architectural stewardship for cloud infrastructure or data architecture, including scalability, resilience, security, messaging, databases, pipelines, warehouses, and lakehouses.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor changes through structured proof-of-concepts, lifecycle standards, onboarding, phase-out, and consolidation recommendations.
- Partner with FinOps on cost optimization, including evaluating AI and model infrastructure spending.
- Host design reviews and workshops and provide technical consulting to engineering teams making complex infrastructure decisions.
- Shape multi-year platform strategy covering developer experience, delivery pipelines, and AI-augmented architecture review tooling.
- Drive standards adoption across engineering organizations without formal managerial authority.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10-15+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or data architecture.
- Proven experience setting technical direction across large-scale systems used by multiple teams.
- Production experience with GCP and/or AWS and practical Kubernetes experience, including GKE or an equivalent runtime.
- Strong proficiency with Terraform, GitOps workflows, and reusable infrastructure modules.
- Depth in cloud infrastructure architecture or data architecture, with experience in relevant networking, Kubernetes, service mesh, messaging, database, analytics, pipeline, or search technologies.
- Ability to build working prototypes, evaluate system behavior under load, and understand incidents, on-call impact, capacity, and rollout blast radius.
- Strong technical leadership, writing, presentation, architecture governance, and cross-organizational influence skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous technology evaluations and produce actionable recommendations.
- Working knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure requirements, including model serving, vector databases, and inference cost and latency trade-offs.
- Experience with GCP organization policies, folder structures, IAM inheritance, Confluent Platform, architecture governance, AI-augmented architecture review workflows, or MLOps tooling is a bonus.
