Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve Keka’s distributed platform for multi-region deployment, horizontal scalability, and 10x growth.
- Define technical strategy for platform domains and translate ambiguous business needs into scalable system designs.
- Design and implement event-driven architectures, distributed data pipelines, fault-tolerant microservices, and scalable APIs.
- Establish engineering standards for API contracts, observability, CI/CD maturity, and production readiness.
- Drive cross-team alignment on service mesh strategy, data consistency, schema evolution, backward compatibility, and API versioning.
- Mentor senior engineers, lead architecture reviews and design forums, and promote technical rigor.
- Partner with Product, Security, and Infrastructure leadership on technology roadmaps and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Remain hands-on by writing production code, reviewing critical pull requests, debugging incidents, and prototyping solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience building and operating distributed systems at scale in production environments serving millions of users.
- Hands-on expertise in highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems, including CAP trade-offs, consensus, distributed transactions, and eventual consistency.
- Proven ability to design scalable microservices, decompose monoliths, and apply domain-driven, CQRS, and event-driven patterns.
- Experience building large-scale data platforms, real-time streaming systems, distributed messaging, and stream processing.
- Expertise in observability, capacity planning, SLO-driven engineering, latency diagnosis, and systems operating at 99.99%+ availability.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures, containers, orchestration, infrastructure as code, and multi-region deployments.
- Understanding of zero-trust principles, encryption, access control models, and SOC2, GDPR, and ISO 27001 compliance frameworks.
- Experience designing versioned REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs.
- Ability to drive architectural decisions, write design documents and RFCs, mentor engineers, and influence technical direction across teams.
- Comfort working across JVM-based services, Go microservices, and Python data pipelines.
- B.Tech, M.Tech, or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent depth acquired through professional practice and system-building.
- Preferred qualifications include zero-to-one platform leadership, published or open-source distributed-systems work, multi-tenant SaaS experience, and experience scaling engineering teams.
