Responsibilities
- Build system-level software and infrastructure for the Railway platform.
- Develop Go and Rust gRPC services from scratch to expose complex capabilities across the company.
- Design and implement solutions involving distributed systems, fault tolerance, scalability, and simplicity.
- Create monitoring and documentation for systems and their operational requirements.
- Own technical decisions and the success or failure of resulting systems.
- Complete an asynchronous project architecting a container provisioning engine before the technical interview.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and experience or interest in building fault-tolerant, resilient, and scalable services.
- Strong understanding or curiosity about operating-system primitives, including CPU, memory, networking, and the kernel.
- Ability to build solutions from first principles and judge how long systems will remain effective as they scale.
- Ability to create monitoring for error boundaries and document operational requirements.
- Strong prioritization, communication, grit, and comfort with ambiguity in an early-stage startup.
- Willingness to participate in on-call responsibilities from time to time.
