Responsibilities
- Own and contribute to the architecture and development of enterprise Java applications.
- Develop full-stack applications across client and server components using Java and enterprise Java technologies.
- Modernize legacy forensic systems and design modular new platforms.
- Provide technical guidance on software design and implementation across distributed teams.
- Design and optimize backend services, data models, and high-performance processing logic.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated build, deployment, and release processes.
- Manage containerized environments and Git-based development workflows.
- Improve code quality, performance, JVM tuning, production stability, and release quality.
- Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps, architecture, business, and IT stakeholders.
- Support team mobilization, onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer across UK, European, nearshore, and offshore teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices.
- Proven experience with software architecture and hands-on development.
- Experience with Java 11 or Java 17, Java EE or Jakarta EE, Eclipse RCP, SWT, JFace, PostgreSQL, and WildFly Application Server.
- Experience with object-oriented design, design patterns, Clean Code, application modularization, and legacy system evolution.
- Experience with JPA/Hibernate, JPQL, CriteriaBuilder, Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Maven, and Eclipse Tycho.
- Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments such as forensics or LIMS is preferred.
- Strong collaboration skills across distributed delivery teams.
- Strong English communication, analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, flexibility, and teamwork.
