Base Salary
$125k - $135k/yr
Responsibilities
- Engineer software tools and workflows for clinical genomic data analysis and bioinformatics process automation.
- Develop web tools for genomic data visualization and interaction, including IGV-based or browser-native viewers.
- Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, reliability, scalability, and production support for laboratory-facing systems.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across interconnected systems and convert production bottlenecks into durable solutions.
- Evaluate genomic and operational data quality and support improvements in quality, consistency, and traceability.
- Apply bioinformatics algorithms, statistical techniques, and engineering methods to clinical genomics problems.
- Collaborate with bioinformatics R&D, clinical analysts, molecular biologists, laboratory stakeholders, and data analytics teams.
- Produce well-tested, documented, maintainable code and technical writing for compliance and operational activities.
- Balance feature development, operational support, incident response, and continuous improvement in a production environment.
Requirements
- Master's degree with at least three years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Engineering; alternatively, a Ph.D.; or a bachelor's degree with at least six years of relevant experience.
- Preferred experience with short-read and long-read sequencing platforms such as Illumina or PacBio.
- Preferred experience with bioinformatics algorithms, scalable infrastructure, workflow orchestration, and clinical genomics regulations including CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA.
- Preferred experience with full-stack web development, modern programming languages, command-line tooling, UNIX/Linux, SQL and NoSQL datastores, and software production practices.
- Preferred experience with version control, testing, code review, documentation, Docker, CI/CD, and GitHub Actions.
- Preferred experience using AI-assisted development tools, interactive data visualization tools, and observability or monitoring platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to solve open-ended problems, work with limited information, communicate effectively, and collaborate with technical and laboratory stakeholders.
