Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy real-time map-based Android interfaces for sensor-data interaction and tactical control of Fury, Barracuda, and Roadrunner aircraft through ATAK plugins.
- Define APIs for network communications, real-time telemetry, vehicle configuration, sensor and payload control, full-motion video streaming, manual controls, and autonomous tasking.
- Define foundational software architectures, visual designs, and user workflows for multiple UAS and iterate on capabilities with internal, external, and end-user stakeholders.
- Develop with Android technologies and backend or middleware languages including Jetpack Compose, Java, Kotlin, C++, Rust, and Golang.
- Work with the ATAK SDK and the TAK Product Centers’ developer community.
- Collaborate with engineers using TypeScript, React, C++, Qt, and C#/.NET.
- Test and evaluate software using simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another related technical field is required.
- Experience developing user-interface software, particularly high-traffic, data-intensive, or map-based applications, is required.
- Proficiency with Jetpack Compose, XML, Java, and Kotlin is required.
- Proficiency with C++, Rust, or Golang for backend or middleware development is required.
- Familiarity with TCP, UDP, Multicast, HTTP, REST, protobuf, or gRPC client/server networking is required.
- Ability to translate user needs into software features and balance user experience with engineering constraints is required.
- Willingness to provide on-call support to clients is required.
- Ability to travel up to 30%, potentially including international travel, is required.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance is required.
- Preferred qualifications include DoD, robotics, offline-interface, 3D geospatial, mapping, aviation, UAS-control, full-motion-video, build-system, software-lifecycle, and developer-operations experience.
