Base Salary
$100k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, resilient distributed systems for GEICO’s underwriting platform.
- Develop and deploy core underwriting services and consumer experiences that are robust, scalable, and production ready.
- Collaborate cross-functionally throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in design sessions, architecture work, and code reviews.
- Use programming languages, databases, containers, orchestration services, and Azure tools to deliver software.
- Improve engineering practices, share best practices, define products, and support technical solution decisions.
- Analyze and estimate work while helping automate repetitive underwriting processes.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 4 years of experience with security, identity, architecture, and design.
- Experience with at least one modern programming language such as Java or C# and other object-oriented languages.
- Experience contributing to architecture and design, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms.
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture, extensible APIs, monitoring tools, databases, deployment steps, and configuration-management functions.
- Understanding of DevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and the Azure DevOps Operational Framework.
- Experience with enterprise-level design documentation.
- At least 2 years of experience with a cloud service provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong problem-solving, oral communication, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
- Two or more years of experience with open-source frameworks is desired.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
