Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and implementation of client-facing payment initiation capabilities across web, mobile, API, and file channels.
- Design complex, scalable, maintainable, secure, and resilient payment solutions and instruction-processing workflows.
- Guide engineering teams on technical excellence, best practices, architecture, and payment controls.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to organization-wide technical capability building.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, business partners, and senior stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Contribute to strategic planning, product roadmaps, innovation, policy, compliance, and risk-management decisions.
- Address duplicate prevention, idempotency, entitlements, mandates, approval workflows, and payment processing consistency.
Requirements
- Strong Java engineering background in a LeSS or SAFe environment.
- Deep expertise in ISO 20022 payment standards, including pain.001, pain.002, pain.007, and pain.008.
- Knowledge of SWIFT MT payment messaging standards.
- Experience designing payment initiation and payment instruction-processing solutions.
- Experience managing duplicate prevention, idempotency, and payment controls.
- Experience designing payment entitlements, mandates, and approval workflows.
- Evidence of setting technical direction for customer-facing payments platforms.
- Preferred experience with payment status tracking, real-time reporting, audit, regulatory or risk management, sanctions screening, fraud controls, market-specific payment processing, and large-scale file-based payment environments.
