Staff Backend Product Engineer, Operations Technology

Responsibilities
- Lead cross-squad initiatives to design and build modular, globally scalable backend solutions for supply chain operations.
- Architect reliable systems and serve as a technical bridge between engineering squads and operational stakeholders.
- Define engineering best practices for system design, code quality, maintainability, and observability.
- Optimize data workflows and event-driven architectures supporting production and scaling needs.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design discussions, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
- Shape the technical roadmap by identifying architectural bottlenecks and proposing strategic improvements.
- Design, build, operate, monitor, and improve backend services and systems in production.
- Translate operational requirements into technical roadmaps and make product decisions informed by data and user evidence.
Requirements
- Extensive backend engineering expertise, ideally with Golang and JVM-based ecosystems such as Kotlin or Java.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, event-driven and asynchronous flows, service contracts, partial failure, and production operations.
- Proven experience designing and operating scalable event-driven systems using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
- Solid understanding of AWS, Kubernetes, and observability practices, with the ability to establish engineering standards.
- Hands-on experience using AI tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot beyond casual experimentation, including daily use of AI agents and managing their context and boundaries.
- Ability to work across team boundaries and translate complex business or operational requirements into actionable technical roadmaps.
- Strong technical judgment, collaborative problem-solving, mentoring ability, ownership, and product sense.
