Responsibilities
- Architect and drive cross-engineering initiatives for Cloudera Data Services applications.
- Work with Product Managers to define requirements and convert them into technical designs.
- Produce high-fidelity design documentation, obtain architectural sign-off, and deliver scalable enterprise application services.
- Develop secure, performant, robust, and high-quality software.
- Collaborate with UI engineers, quality engineers, UX designers, Product Managers, SRE, Infosec, and external partners.
- Hire, mentor, and lead junior engineers by example.
- Improve developer productivity and team agility.
- Contribute to cloud-native solutions deployable across public clouds and private data centers.
- Contribute upstream to open-source technologies and improve their security, performance, and portability.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building scalable applications with Golang and Java.
- Hands-on experience with microservices development, gRPC, REST, object-oriented programming, SQL and NoSQL databases, and messaging infrastructure.
- At least 5 years of development and production experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other enterprise-grade private-cloud platforms, and Terraform.
- Conceptual understanding of enterprise networking for on-premise and private-cloud deployments, including VLANs, load balancers, VPNs, firewalls, and data-center networking.
- Experience debugging connection problems and knowledge of TLS and PKI.
- Experience with implementing service meshes such as Istio is beneficial.
- Experience with certification or compliance standards such as FedRAMP and CIS is beneficial.
- Strong ownership, craftsmanship, communication, and bias for action.
