Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of Caterpillar’s digital platform.
- Lead engineers and provide technical guidance while delivering scalable Java and J2EE software applications.
- Design application architectures, RESTful APIs, API proxies, and integrations using cloud platforms and API management tools.
- Develop applications using relational and NoSQL databases and optimize web performance.
- Deploy and maintain software using public clouds and CI/CD tools.
- Create product plans, resource and scope estimates, and feature technical specifications with team leads.
- Apply testing, mocking, authorization, cybersecurity, and software development best practices.
- Participate in competency development to support high-quality technical solutions.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software at scale.
- Hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, SQL, Spring, JUnit, JSON, and REST/JSON web services.
- At least three years of experience deploying and maintaining software using public cloud platforms such as Azure.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, application architecture patterns, RESTful APIs, and multi-threaded applications.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, API management platforms, Swagger, Postman, Assertible, Cucumber, mocking frameworks, and unit testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of Java design patterns, data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design, OAuth, JSON Web Token, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with test-driven development, behavior-driven development, Agile frameworks, and Scrum.
- Strong analytical skills and experience providing technical leadership and guidance to engineers.
