Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate secure, reliable, and extensible production systems.
- Drive complex, multi-team initiatives from concept to launch, including dependency management, architectural trade-offs, and delivery.
- Set a high technical bar through hands-on coding, design and code reviews, rigorous testing, documentation, and maintainable system design.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and external partners on regulatory and operational complexity.
- Lead incident response and improve system health, security, and operational workflows.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Mentor and develop engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Proven experience driving architectural vision for complex, multi-team initiatives with expertise in system design, databases, and API development.
- Strong end-to-end technical ownership from concept through delivery, including influence on technical and product roadmaps.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience leading projects across multiple cross-functional teams and time zones is preferred.
- Payments or financial technology experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Ruby, Java, or Go and experience with relational and document databases are preferred.
