Responsibilities
- Set the team’s technical strategy over a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Lead the design and architecture of the next generation of Affirm’s checkout experience.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that multiply team effectiveness.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting.
- Set code review and design standards, promote engineering quality, and share practices through writing and tech talks.
- Develop talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience developing and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
- Proficiency with JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through technical and execution planning.
- Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code and understand systems from low-level language idioms through large-scale architecture.
- Demonstrated growth through gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
