Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior software engineers to design, develop, and integrate software components for navigation and mission-planning systems.
- Write maintainable C/C++ and Python code for embedded and real-time platforms.
- Perform unit, integration, and system-level testing using automated test frameworks and continuous integration pipelines.
- Participate in code reviews and improve software quality and reliability based on peer feedback.
- Document design decisions, API specifications, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot and profile flight-critical software to meet safety and latency requirements.
- Contribute to safety-critical certification artifacts, including DO-178C design reviews and IS-145 safety analyses.
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and coordinate with systems engineering, hardware integration, and security teams.
- Prototype emerging technologies such as machine-learning inference on edge devices and secure communication protocols.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university and remain enrolled full-time in Fall 2027.
- Must major in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related STEM discipline.
- Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance and Program Special Access.
- Preferred qualifications include a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher, hands-on embedded C/C++ experience, familiarity with safety-critical development standards, Python proficiency, experience with automated testing and code review tools, and exposure to defense acquisition or DoD software lifecycles.
