Senior Staff Software Engineer - Market Making

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve real-time quoting and decisioning components with attention to latency, throughput, and correctness.
  • Create and productionize quantitative models and market making strategies with quantitative analysts and engineers.
  • Implement and maintain risk controls and guardrails, including exposure checks, limits, throttling or filters, and kill-switch patterns.
  • Ensure decision logging supports debugging, replay, and improvement using real quote and fill outcomes.
  • Define and monitor market-making metrics with quants and stakeholders, including quote ratio, win rate, expected versus realized margin, and exposure or capital utilization.
  • Lead technical decisions, architecture discussions, code reviews, design discussions, planning, and operational reviews across the team and organization.
  • Own product and technology areas, resolve complex problems, and improve the maintainability of inherited and newly produced software.
  • Mentor and train teammates, assist with recruiting and interviewing, and help develop others.
  • Classify, store, and handle data according to FanDuel policies and track, mitigate, or escalate security risks.
  • Participate in on-call support and maintain operational excellence through root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience, or 5+ years with an MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • At least one frontend specialization involving Kotlin or Swift native apps, React web apps using JavaScript or TypeScript, or React Native hybrid apps.
  • Experience building or contributing to an advanced shared library, design system, or SDK.
  • Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances.
  • Knowledge of web libraries and frameworks such as TypeScript, React, Angular, and/or Bootstrap.
  • Familiarity with full stacks, single-page applications, and/or micro frontends.
  • Expertise with testing concepts and tools and integrating testing practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong ownership, urgency, drive, adaptability, and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
