Responsibilities
- Embed with one or two portfolio companies to understand their operating model, priorities, revenue drivers, and workflow gaps.
- Identify two or three high-leverage workflows where agentic software can materially improve the business.
- Build and deploy the integrations, prompts, evaluations, workflows, and UI surfaces needed for an initial agentic loop.
- Monitor deployed systems, tune prompts, adjust autonomy tiers, and hand stable workflows to portfolio operations.
- Bring deployment patterns back to Beacon headquarters and codify them into reusable playbooks for other portfolio companies.
- Serve as Beacon’s technical relationship owner for the portfolio company general manager and set expectations around the system’s value.
Requirements
- Strong generalist engineering ability with full-stack TypeScript or Python backend development, React frontend development, and fluent SQL.
- Production experience shipping software using foundation models, including writing evaluations, deciding when to fine-tune, and managing agent autonomy.
- Ability to work comfortably in unfamiliar codebases and operate with high autonomy as the primary Beacon engineer at a portfolio company.
- Customer-oriented operating mindset with the ability to understand business workflows, read a P&L, and prioritize measurable business impact.
- Strong written communication skills for wedge memos, GM updates, deployment retrospectives, and reusable playbooks.
- Prior forward deployed engineering experience is a bonus.
- Private equity, consulting, or M&A diligence exposure is a bonus.
- Experience with Iceberg-based data platforms, Snowflake, Databricks, event-driven systems, or production agentic systems is a bonus.
