Responsibilities
- Embed with one or two portfolio companies to understand their operating models, priorities, revenue drivers, and workflow inefficiencies.
- Identify two or three high-leverage workflows where agentic software can materially improve the business.
- Build and deploy integrations, prompts, evaluations, workflows, and UI surfaces for the initial agentic system.
- Operate deployed systems by monitoring outcomes, tuning prompts, and adjusting autonomy tiers as trust develops.
- Hand off stable systems to portfolio operations and codify deployment learnings into reusable playbooks for other portfolio companies.
- Act as Beacon’s technical face to the portfolio-company GM, building trust and setting expectations.
Requirements
- Strong generalist engineering ability with full-stack TypeScript or Python backend development, React frontend development, and fluent SQL.
- Ability to become comfortable in another codebase quickly and independently ship complete solutions.
- Experience shipping real production software using foundation models, including writing evaluations, deciding when to fine-tune, and managing agent autonomy.
- Customer-obsessed approach with comfort working directly with GMs, operators, and customer success leaders.
- Strong autonomy, judgment, written communication, and operator instincts, including the ability to read a P&L and prioritize business impact.
- Prior Forward Deployed Engineer experience is a bonus.
- PE, consulting, or M&A diligence exposure, especially post-LOI integration experience, is a bonus.
- Comfort with Iceberg-based data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks is a bonus.
- Experience building or operating production agentic systems with evaluations, autonomy gating, and outcome tracking is a bonus.
