Base Salary
$180k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and own core Picks systems covering contests, entries, pricing, market data, settlement, grading, wallets, ledgers, eligibility, and compliance.
- Develop reconciliation, auditability, and settlement logic for real-money products.
- Handle real-time prices, positions, entry surges, concurrent writes, and settlement across game slates.
- Partner with risk and trading teams on exposure management and internal tooling.
- Integrate third-party projection, market, and payment providers while designing for failures.
- Ship end-to-end product features with designers and mobile and web engineers.
- At Staff level, own architecture, improve design and code review standards, and help engineers ship at scale.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience; Staff candidates need at least 8 years and a track record of owning architecture at comparable scale.
- Experience building and operating consumer products with millions of users.
- Experience shipping end-to-end product features rather than only infrastructure.
- Experience with payments, trading, marketplaces, ledgers, real-money gaming, or equivalent rigor in systems where errors have financial consequences.
- Deep distributed-systems experience, including data modeling, caching, queues, real-time updates, and concurrent writes.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Elixir, Go, Java, Python, Rust, or Node.
- Ability to explain technical decisions, tradeoffs, and individual contributions clearly.
- Interest in or familiarity with sports, DFS, sportsbooks, or prediction markets.
- Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City and work hybrid.
