Responsibilities
- Own and evolve pragmatic mobile and product test pyramids across unit, component, API, contract, and E2E testing.
- Write test frameworks, CI tooling, helper scripts, and reliable automated test code rather than primarily executing tests manually.
- Build and maintain reliable E2E automation, test environments, data fixtures, reporting, and performance benchmarks.
- Reduce test flakiness and time-to-diagnosis through root-cause analysis, parallelization, artifact management, and runtime control.
- Use AI tools and agents for test authoring, exploratory testing, failure clustering, coverage analysis, and proposed fixes.
- Partner with product and engineering teams on shift-left quality, acceptance criteria, risk identification, and production defect prevention.
- Use Datadog, Sentry, and Grafana to connect test coverage with customer impact and help teams establish and achieve Service Level Objectives.
- Coach other disciplines and product teams on quality practices and drive measurable quality improvements across multiple teams.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Maestro or Detox is essential.
- At least 5 years of experience in quality engineering or test automation.
- Experience operating in a scaled engineering environment with multiple teams and competing priorities.
- Hands-on coding experience with test code, frameworks, CI pipelines, and helper scripts.
- Experience with API and contract testing, test data, and environment strategy.
- Experience setting up and using Service Level Objectives and driving measurable reliability improvements.
- Demonstrated AI-assisted testing experience, including test authoring, failure triage, or coverage analysis, with judgment about when AI is appropriate.
- Experience coaching other disciplines and gaining adoption of quality practices.
- Experience shaping CI/CD pipelines for test reliability, including flakiness reduction, parallelization, artifact management, and runtime control.
- Ability to operate independently, communicate clearly, and drive framework, CI, test data, and reporting improvements end to end.
- Ability to discuss 3–4 quality projects with measurable impact, such as improved SLO coverage or reduced incident rates.
- React Native testing experience is preferred.
- Mobile performance and reliability experience, including crash reporting, startup time, memory, and battery awareness, is preferred.
