Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows MSI/WiX or equivalent installers for Overlay components, including configuration, upgrades, and uninstalls.
- Develop and operate Windows services and PowerShell scripts for machine-level telemetry, health checks, log collection, and self-healing.
- Support enterprise deployment through Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager, including troubleshooting locked-down environments.
- Implement telemetry and heartbeat mechanisms with metrics and logs in SumoLogic and Datadog.
- Integrate Windows installers and agents with backend APIs for license validation, configuration retrieval, and metrics ingestion.
- Apply secure handling of secrets, license keys, and Windows configuration, including code signing and least-privilege principles.
- Collaborate with security, desktop, web overlay, IT, support, and deployment teams to meet security, compliance, and penetration-testing requirements.
- Create and maintain runbooks, IT-facing deployment guides, and internal troubleshooting documentation.
- Participate in on-call support, incident response, monitoring improvements, and runbook evolution.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building and debugging Windows desktop installers, preferably with MSI/WiX and related packaging tools.
- Proficiency with PowerShell for automation, deployment scripting, health checks, and log collection.
- Knowledge of Windows services, the registry, event logs, service accounts, and scheduled tasks.
- Familiarity with enterprise deployment using Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, and Endpoint Manager.
- Experience designing and instrumenting telemetry or heartbeat agents with robust error handling and retry logic.
- Comfort working with REST APIs, authentication, TLS, retries, and idempotency from Windows services or scripts.
- Understanding of secure secrets, license-key and configuration handling, code signing, and least-privilege principles.
- Preferred experience with endpoint or agent-style products such as installers, updaters, or monitoring agents.
- Preferred experience supporting variable customer environments and debugging across local logs, remote telemetry dashboards, and customer-specific configurations.
- Strong written and verbal communication with IT administrators, support teams, and deployment operations.
- Ability to take ownership, participate in on-call and incident response, and continuously improve monitoring and documentation.
