Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure API gateway capabilities, including authentication, authorization, token validation, access controls, rate limiting, monitoring, and caching.
- Consolidate and modernize backend services and APIs into unified, scalable, maintainable interfaces.
- Decompose legacy monolithic components into modular services and implement event-driven integrations.
- Design workflow orchestration for complex business processes, service interactions, and scheduled activities.
- Develop core platform services, APIs, integrations, SDKs, and reusable components for business and partner-facing solutions.
- Support performance testing, traffic-ramp validation, production migrations, observability, and safe retirement of legacy code paths.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience with hands-on RESTful API development, API Gateway, IAM, authentication, authorization, and cloud security.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly API Gateway, IAM, S3, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
- Experience designing event-driven architectures, event schemas, asynchronous communication, and service integrations.
- Experience modernizing and decomposing legacy monolithic applications using feature flags, incremental migration strategies, and event-driven integration.
- Hands-on AWS Step Functions experience, including state-machine design, workflow orchestration, and asynchronous task-token callbacks.
- Experience designing OAuth2-secured APIs and partner integrations with multi-tenant configurations and API/SDK development.
- Experience integrating third-party services and external systems, including APIs, document platforms, authentication providers, and partner services.
- Experience with performance and load testing for backend services, APIs, and cloud workloads.
- Experience with observability and production monitoring, including distributed tracing, logging, metrics, and troubleshooting distributed applications.
- Experience supporting production migrations and traffic transitions, including traffic validation, feature flags, and safe retirement of legacy components.
- Strong JavaScript and SDK development skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile environment with two-week sprint cycles.
