Base Salary

$143k - $304k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and own architecture for services and APIs that provision, scale, and secure containerized compute.
  • Lead multi-team platform investments from problem definition through design, staged rollout, and live-site operation.
  • Define networking, identity, tenant-isolation, least-access, and secure-execution strategies.
  • Use debugging tools, tests, logs, telemetry, and verification practices to prevent and resolve production issues.
  • Lead incident retrospectives, corrective actions, root-cause analysis, and on-call operations.
  • Drive capacity planning, infrastructure cost efficiency, and alignment with Azure compute, networking, and identity teams.
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and raise organizational design and code quality through reviews and shared practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
  • Preferred: master’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, Azure Container Instances, Service Fabric, or Virtual Machine Scale Sets.
  • Expertise with C#, .NET, and core Azure platform services.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, safe deployment practices, ARM or Bicep templates, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Depth in Azure networking, virtual networks, DNS, load balancing, and multi-tenant isolation.
  • Experience owning high-availability services at scale, including on-call leadership, incident command, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with observability and diagnostics tooling such as distributed tracing, metrics, and log analytics.
  • Experience with generative AI, agentic workloads, or LLM/ML systems and their infrastructure challenges.
  • Demonstrated cross-organizational technical leadership, architecture and design review experience, mentoring, and engineering standards leadership.

Benefits

  • Typical U.S. base pay range is $142,800–$274,800 per year; a separate range applies to the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for a minimum of five days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
