Responsibilities
- Build backend systems that support product growth, including multi-tenant foundations and internal tooling.
- Design and operate asynchronous processing systems for background workloads and workflow orchestration.
- Improve system performance and cost through practical optimizations like caching and batching.
- Build secure, extensible integration infrastructure including APIs and third-party connectors.
- Raise the bar on backend engineering quality through observability, testing, and operational best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ship features end-to-end while designing durable and extensible backend systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience at a fast-moving startup with production backend systems.
- Comfort owning systems end-to-end from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
- Experience building reliable distributed systems including APIs and async jobs.
- Experience with real-time systems like WebSockets and low-latency solutions.
- Experience with enterprise-ready multi-tenant systems including roles and permissions.
- Familiarity with LLM product infrastructure patterns is a plus.
- Data-driven orientation to measure and assess built systems.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco.
