Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate reconciliation systems, including the Stack State Service backend, to detect and repair drift across Grafana Cloud stack state and configuration.
  • Collaborate across Stack State Service, grafana.com, and deployment configurations to maintain reliable, observable, and resilient stack lifecycle workflows.
  • Reduce deployment complexity and contribute to Stack Config Reconciliation initiatives.
  • Manage rollouts for plugins, dashboards, data sources, Grafana versions, release channels, and stack-level configuration.
  • Support new region and cluster rollouts and the operational processes needed to bring stacks online safely.
  • Improve incident response and recovery for reconciliation failures, plugin rollout issues, stack misalignment, and Hosted Grafana integration failures.
  • Partner with Product, Hosted Grafana, Infrastructure, Support, and adjacent AppCore squads on customer-impacting lifecycle work.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, technical design, on-call improvements, runbooks, dashboards, alerts, rollout controls, and recovery procedures.
  • Implement maintainable backend services and systems, collaborate across departments, respond to customer feedback, and participate in technical decisions and the follow-the-sun on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of fully remote work experience is required.
  • Some experience working on a SaaS platform and familiarity with distributed-systems concepts such as scalability, multi-tenancy, and high availability are required.
  • Professional Golang experience and willingness to work across backend service and application code are required.
  • Experience delivering projects from initial brainstorming through customer release is required.
  • Experience writing clean, well-tested, maintainable software and executing well-defined work iteratively is required.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes in AWS, GCP, or Azure and infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Helm, Terraform, or Jsonnet is required.
  • Experience participating in blameless incident response and post-incident reviews is required.
  • Bonus qualifications include TypeScript/Node.js, Kubernetes control-plane patterns, operators, reconcilers, desired-state systems, Jsonnet/Tanka, Terraform, Flux, Argo, SaaS provisioning, tenancy, regional expansion, plugin rollout, customer lifecycle systems, and incident response involving configuration drift or cross-service state mismatch.
