Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and delivery of WordPress-based ecommerce capabilities, including catalog, checkout, payment processing, and purchase and fulfillment workflows.
- Design and develop custom WordPress plugins, themes, extensions, APIs, integrations, and relational data models.
- Translate business and compliance requirements into testable and auditable technical designs.
- Develop, test, maintain, and modernize web application code, including addressing defects, technical debt, and legacy code.
- Evaluate development tools, technologies, processes, and alternative platforms against business requirements.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor less experienced engineers, and provide technical direction.
- Create design documentation, participate in planning, break down stories and defects, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
- Support the integration of an acquired company into Mastercam from compliance and financial-controls perspectives, with broader business-area responsibilities over time.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 6–9 years of experience developing web applications with strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- At least 3 years of experience developing and supporting ecommerce applications, including payment gateway integration and refund, failure, and reconciliation scenarios.
- Extensive experience with custom WordPress plugin and theme development, hooks and filters, and the WordPress REST API.
- Experience developing web applications outside WordPress, designing and building APIs, creating relational data models, and deploying applications to a cloud platform.
- Experience with source control, peer reviews, unit testing, and agile software development practices.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical direction to other developers.
- Working familiarity with modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks, particularly React, is preferred.
- Experience using AI-enabled tools or automation to improve productivity and operational effectiveness, or the ability to rapidly learn and apply such technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, problem-solving, analytical, project-delivery, judgment, and autonomous decision-making skills.
