Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and innovative software solutions in a SaaS environment.
  • Own system design and feature grooming for a subsystem.
  • Lead epics and initiatives, provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions.
  • Design systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and high availability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, developers, executives, and other stakeholders to align architecture with business and customer needs.
  • Design and operate microservices, distributed data systems, event-driven architectures, cloud services, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Review and improve code quality, optimize systems, solve complex technical problems, and document technical decisions and systems.
  • Monitor and debug production subsystems using logging, metrics, and traces, and generate business-level metrics.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of relevant software development experience, particularly with SaaS or cloud-based applications.
  • Experience leading or playing key roles in significant software projects.
  • Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for creating, deploying, and managing containers.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing and deployment for microservices.
  • Expertise designing and architecting microservices, distributed data management, and event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, design patterns, software engineering best practices, and the SDLC.
  • Experience designing and operating software in cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with cloud-based relational databases, NoSQL stores, and data caches.
  • Proficiency with Java/Kotlin, Python, C#, and SaaS software engineering principles.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, and API documentation.
  • Familiarity with server management, network configurations, and cloud services.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and continuous-improvement skills.
  • Preferred experience includes high-availability systems, security-focused development, observability, third-party components, CI/CD testing practices, feature or release toggles, contract-first design, and technical documentation.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom without current or future sponsorship.
